The licensee's studio is a fully kitted and branded VW Caddy which enables the licensee to bring a wide range of fashionable fabrics, blinds and accessories to the customer's premises, measure on the spot, and offer a holistic personally supervised window treatment service.

Both the reputable curtain and blind suppliers have a direct interest in the franchise and provide competitively priced goods with guaranteed workmanship.

On payment of the license fee, the licensee will receive everything that is required to start business. This includes all the necessary tools to do the job, sampling, promotional wear, comprehensive product and administration training. Vehicle or total business finance is arranged by the licensee.

A sales office is open during normal office hours and an any time - any day support helpline is available to assist licensees in the field or at home base.

Each Licensee is given an exclusive promotional area defined around each licensee’s operating hub within which no other licensee will be permitted to promote their license, and will generally conform to the areas below with only one licensee appointed for each area. However they are free to sell outside of their territories should a job present itself. Particular circumstances may demand a slight variation to these territories. This would be negotiated with the individual with consideration to neighbouring licensees at the time.

It is recognised that Curtain and Blind Studio is also extremely appropriate for neighbouring states such as Namibia and Botswana, and even as far a field as Kenya and the United Arab Emirates.

FINANCIAL

Upfront capital : R 260 000 plus vat

The upfront capital requirement includes the fully fitted and signed VW Caddy van which can be financed separately, a set of tools, sampling, administrative requirements, branded clothing, comprehensive product training, customer visit.

Licensees can expect to grow their monthly turnover depending on their territory and individual effort. Net earnings would be in excess of 20% depending on turnover, selling prices and vehicle financing arrangements.

License administration fees are fixed and currently R1 000 per month.

Minimum working capital is required. There is no manufacturing and no stockholding.

LICENSEE PROFILE
The potential licensee will enjoy visiting clients and assisting with their window decor requirements in terms of fabrics, material, styling, accessories, etc. They will receive thorough product training from Curtain and Blind Studio to enable them to make the sale. They may do the installation themselves but it is recommended that the service of a specialist installer is engaged to do it on their behalf. Previous experience is not essential.

Though the license is relatively new, it has been professionally constructed and extensively trialled in South Africa backed by suppliers who have been in the window treatment business for many years. The franchise network is growing, but prime territories are still available.
